Ready to learn more about supporting older adults in our community?

Below are some helpful links to information that can help support seniors be safe and active online and to access technology.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES FOR SENIORS

List of Senior Centers

Did you know that, compared with their peers, senior center participants have higher levels of health, social interaction, and life satisfaction?

There are more than 50 Senior centers in King County, helping to meet the physical and emotional needs of older adults (usually age 50+) by providing opportunities for fitness, volunteerism, lifelong learning, transportation, and healthy meals as well as services and resources such as immunization, health screening, and foot care.

Free / Low Cost Internet

There are federal programs offering up to $50/month toward broadband internet access. Find out more at the City of Seattle website.

Discount Smart Phones & Free Mobile Services

Lifeline is a government benefit program that provides monthly telephone service discounts for eligible consumers living on low incomes, helping create access to the opportunities and security that phone service affords – including being able to connect to jobs, housing, family and 9-1-1. Click the link above for details.

Aging & Disability Programs and Services (ADS Website)

Aging and Disability Services provides a key link between federal and state funding for services for older residents and family caregivers in the Seattle-King County area and the community-based organizations that deliver the services. We administer federal Older Americans Act funding, partnering with community-based organizations to provide adult day services, caregiver support, case management, elder abuse prevention, health maintenance, health promotion, information and assistance, legal support, nutrition, senior center, and transportation services. The majority of these services are accessed by contacting Community Living Connections.

Online Safety for Older Adults – WA State Attorney General

The Internet provides numerous opportunities for seniors to meet people, conduct business, plan travel, access records, stay in touch with friends and family, and support hobbies and entertainment interests. You can learn how to take advantage of the opportunities without falling prey to predators so you can have peace of mind when you go online.
