Washington State University’s Metro Center has developed a suite of community economic development services for local communities around the Puget Sound region. Our services strengthen a community entrepreneurial ecosystem by achieving the following:
- Applying entrepreneurial thinking
- Supporting existing business owners with financial empowerment
- Building the capacity of community stakeholders to support their businesses
An educational program offered through the Metro Center that engages participants in the fundamental aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset.
The Metro Center’s financial management education for established businesses utilizes a time-tested curriculum that examines how to manage a company from its financial reports.
The Metro Center’s Ideas for Action Exchange builds the capacity of a community service organization to support their local entrepreneurs through the implementation of focus groups. This service enhances community-based entrepreneurship by helping local entrepreneurs identify and address a strategic challenge they face through a formal idea exchange and action planning process.
Local Investment Networks (LIN) connect local business owners in need of capital with local investors. The mission of a LIN is to keep local capitol rooted and revolving within the community.
